Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Luis Mendoza picked up his first win of the season and Kansas City won just its second series of 2012 with a 4-2 victory over Cleveland on Thursday.

Mendoza (1-2) allowed two runs on four hits over five-plus innings, and the Royals' bullpen pitched four scoreless frames for Kansas City's first series victory since it opened the season by taking 2-of-3 from the Angels.

Jonathan Broxton worked around a hit and a walk in the ninth to record his second save.

Travis Hafner and Aaron Cunningham drove in runs for the Indians, who received 4 2/3 innings from Josh Tomlin (1-2) in a losing effort. He surrendered four runs on eight hits with two walks.
